What is Jama Taqdeem? ~ Hi readers! Do you know what "Jama Taqdeem" is? For Muslims, it is a very important term to know. But maybe there are some Muslims who don't know the meaning of "Jama Taqdeem". Maybe you are one of them. If that's true, then you should read this article to the end!
In this article I will explain three important things about "Jama Taqdeem". The three things I mean are as follows:
Literal Meaning of Jama Taqdeem
Before I explain more about the literal meaning of "Jama Taqdeem", I want to tell you that "Jama Taqdeem" is an Arabic term. The writing is: جَمْعُ التَّقْدِيْمِ. So, the term "Jama Taqdeem" or the sentence "Jama Taqdeem" is composed of two words: جَمْعُ and التَّقْدِيْمِ.
The meaning of the word "Jama" or "Jamu" (جَمْعُ) is to combine. Meanwhile, the meaning of the word "Taqdeem" (التَّقْدِيْمِ) is to prioritize. If we understand the explanation of the meaning of the word for word, then we will understand that what is meant by "Jama Taqdeem" (جَمْعُ التَّقْدِيْمِ) is to combine several things into one and that is preceded or done at the beginning of time.
In Islam, “Jama Taqdeem” (جَمْعُ التَّقْدِيْمِ) is a term that describes one of the ways to perform obligatory prayers. This is the basic explanation of "Jama Taqdeem".
Meaning of Jama Taqdeem Prayer
If we already understand that what is meant by "Jama Taqdeem" (جَمْعُ التَّقْدِيْمِ) is to combine several things into one and that is preceded or done at the beginning of time, then we can understand the term "Jama Taqdeem Prayer" very easily. That what is meant by "Jama Taqdeem prayer" is to combine two obligatory prayers into one and do it at the beginning of time. That is the meaning of Jama Taqdeem prayer.
There is one important thing that you must understand about Jama Taqdeem prayer or combining two obligatory prayers into one, that it should not be done carelessly, and that not all prayers may be combined into one. In Islamic legal literacy, the types of obligatory prayers that can be combined are Dhuhr prayer and Asr prayer, Maghrib prayer and Isha prayer. We must not combine Fajr prayer with other prayers, such as, for example, combining Fajr prayer with Isha prayer, or combining Fajr prayer with Dhuhr prayer. Apart from that, we also cannot combine Dhuhr prayer with Maghrib prayer or Isha prayer or combine Maghrib prayer with Asr prayer or Dhuhr prayer.
So, an important rule in Jama Taqdeem prayer is that Dhuhr prayer can only be combined with Asr prayer and Maghrib prayer can only be combined with Isha prayer. So, if you want to perform Jama Taqdeem prayer by combining Dhuhr prayer and Asr prayer, then you have to do that during Dhuhr prayer times. If you want to perform Jama Taqdeem prayer by combining Maghrib prayer and Isha prayer, then you must do it during Maghrib prayer time. That is Jama Taqdeem prayer.
Niyyah for Jama Taqdeem Prayer
Niyyah for Jama Taqdeem prayer is one of the important things that we must understand. If we pronounce Niyyah wrong, then the prayer we are doing is invalid. Now I will give you an example if you want to do Jama Taqdeem prayer.
If you wish to perform the Jama Taqdeem prayer by combining the Dhuhr prayer and the Asr prayer, then the niyyah will be as follows:
أُصَلِّى فَرْضَ الظُّهْرِ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ مَجْمُوْعًا بِالْعَصْرِ جَمْعَ تَقْدِيْمٍ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى
I intend to perform the four rakat Dhuhr prayer by combining the Asr prayer, on a Jama Taqdeem basis, because of Allah Taala.
