Because that is exactly what I will discuss here. As Muslims, we must understand this. That is why I wrote this article, and you should read it to the end!

In particular, there are four important points about the general guidelines to convert to Islam in Singapore that I will describe in this article. The four key aspects I will explain are as follows:

What Is Islam in Simple Words?

The first important point about the general guidelines to convert to Islam in Singapore that I will discuss is: "What is Islam in simple words?" I want you to understand this first before diving into further explanations in this article because it is a fundamental question that must be properly recognized.

Easy Ways to Convince a Christian to Convert to Islam

In general, many people understand that Islam is the final divine religion. What I mean by "divine religion" is that it originates from God (Allah). Islam was brought by Prophet Muhammad as the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah.

That is correct. You are not wrong if you understand Islam in simple words as described above. However, there are a few additional simple explanations that can help you understand Islam better.

We can find a description of these simple concepts in the hadith below:

From Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: "While we were sitting with Allah's Messenger (Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) one day, suddenly, a man appeared before us wearing very white clothes and having very black hair. There were no signs of travel on him, and none of us recognized him. He sat close to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), placing his knees against his knees and his hands on his thighs, and asked, 'O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: 'Islam is to bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish prayer, to pay zakat, to fast in Ramadan, and to perform Hajj if you are able to do so.'" (The hadith is longer.)

From this hadith, we can conclude that Islam, in simple terms, consists of the following five pillars:

  1. Bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger.
  2. Performing the five daily prayers (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha).
  3. Paying zakat for those who are obligated to do so.
  4. Fasting in the month of Ramadan.
  5. Performing Hajj for those who are able.

These five pillars form the foundation of Islam, as mentioned in another hadith:

From Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Islam is built on five pillars: bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, performing prayer, paying zakat, fasting in Ramadan, and performing Hajj for those who can.'"

Is Islam a Great Religion for Us?

The second key point in the general guidelines to convert to Islam in Singapore is understanding whether Islam is a great religion for us. The answer is: Yes, absolutely!

There are two main reasons why Islam is a great religion:

  • Islam guarantees happiness in this world and the hereafter for those who sincerely follow its teachings.
  • The authenticity of Islam's primary sources—the Quran and Hadith—has been preserved over time, ensuring that its teachings remain pure.

Is Converting to Islam Okay?

The third important point is whether converting to Islam is okay. The answer is: Of course! It is absolutely okay.

However, converting to Islam should be based on the six pillars of faith:

  1. Belief in Allah.
  2. Belief in Allah's angels.
  3. Belief in Allah's messengers.
  4. Belief in Allah's books.
  5. Belief in the Day of Judgment.
  6. Belief in divine predestination, both good and bad.

General Guidelines to Convert to Islam in Singapore

The fourth and final point is the specific process of converting to Islam in Singapore. There are two key steps:

  • Accepting and believing in the six pillars of faith mentioned above.
  • Reciting the Shahada:

I testify that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

Conclusion

Friends! That is a brief explanation of the general guidelines to convert to Islam in Singapore and some important aspects of it. If you are interested in converting to Islam, make sure to seek guidance from a local Islamic authority or mosque to ensure a smooth and proper conversion process.
